Keeping the Zoo

Last week, Levi was the zoo keeper for preschool.

What's that mean??

It means, that for the whole week we had this at our house...

Ebony the classroom pet rabbit.

It's still alive after a whole week at our house!! =)

p.s. I don't know why Levi's front left tooth looks red in that picture, but I promise you my son does not have red teeth.

Good Samaritan

This morning I was leaving Waynesville at 6:30 a.m. to make the two hour drive back to Columbia. I decided to stop at St. Robert's McDonald's on my way out of town to grab breakfast for myself and the kids. As I'm driving up to order, I'm fishing around in my purse for my debit card and am not able to find it. So, I stop short of the sensor and continued digging around in my purse. It's important to note here that I was in the inside drive through lane. (there are two drive through lanes at this McDonald's) A man pulls up beside me in the other (outside) lane and rolls his window down, obviously trying to get my attention. So I roll my window down. He asks me if everything is ok and I said "yes thank you, I'm just looking for something." Well... he puts in his order. At this point I have emptied the contents of my purse and I still can not find my debit card, so I have decided to just drive through without ordering. The man in the mini-van starts to pull around to pay and sees that I'm getting ready to drive through without ordering. so he stops his van in front of me and sticks his head out the window. So I roll my window back down. He says to me "back up and order."

WHAT???

"back up and order. I've got your breakfast this morning."

*blinks*

he was blocking me from driving out. So I thanked him, backed up, and ordered. John had already made my coffee this morning (*swoon*), so all I had to order was a sausage mcmuffin for myself and two $1 sausage biscuits for my kids. The total was less than $5... but that man had no idea how many people I had in my vehicle or what I was going to order.

After I ordered, I pulled around and saw him telling the woman at the window that he had paid for my order. Both of our windows were still down and he stuck his head out his and yelled back to me "Stay warm today!" so I said "Thank you sir, I appreciate it very much."

God had His angels surrounding me this morning.

I'm still in awe that people like him still exist and won't soon forget it. I thank my God for people like that man this morning.

(in case you are wondering... I ended up remembering the last place I'd used my card... a gas station in Columbia... and went back this afternoon. Apparently I'd dropped my card in the parking lot, someone had seen me drop it and had taken it inside. It was waiting for me behind the counter. Thank you Lord!!!!)

Melt

Melt (v.): What your heart does when your four year old son holds the car door open for his two year old little sister so that she can climb in first; What your heart does when your two year old daughter turns to her older brother and says "dank you, Bubby!" after he holds the car door open for her.

My kids are amazing.

Halloween this year was a success. I won't post any pics of all the candy... you might go into a sugar coma just looking at it all!! I'll just tell you that Levi was a police officer, Audrey was a girl dragon, and it was a fun night.

Brogging

I've made up a new word. When you blog... and you're bragging... it should be called "brogging". I'm brogging tonight.

The other day my mom reminded me that I still have not posted a picture of my new cut and color. Well... this picture was taken last night... so I figured I'd post it here. It shows the color well... but not so much the cut.

HOWEVER... what it also shows... is the dozen calla lillies that John got me yesterday.

Callas are my favorite flower.

Thank you, John! I love them

Election Day 2008

This morning, as I was on my way to the polls to vote, with both of my young children in the car with me... I was telling them where we were going, what I was going to do, and how important it was.

So, we get to the voting place, and I'm handed my ballot. I choose a corner booth since I've got both kids with me. And Levi says "I want to vote, mom"

I figured it was history in the making... so I let Levi help me vote. He sat on my lap, held the pen, and blackened in the oval that I told him to for president.

As we were leaving we all got "I voted" stickers.

I want my children to know how important today is

He was pretty proud of himself. And I had to share.
