Busy Week

This has been one busy week in the Bex and Co household!

Tuesday we went to the peach tree farm, Wednesday we spent on a cattle ranch and got to go to a livestock auction and watch calves be auctioned off, and the kids got to help bottle feed a rejected calf. Thursday my parents surprised us by coming into town and taking us to dinner at Red Lobster and then to barnes and noble for coffee. they stayed the night here at our house. Friday we had breakfast with them before they hit the road to Oklahoma to drop my baby sister off at college. Friday night we went to a hot air balloon festival, and then to the fairgrounds here to a mud and monster truck show. WHEW! I guess I shouldn't be surprised that somewhere in that mix, Audrey picked up some germs (and a spider bite) and is feeling under the weather today. Poor Levi doesn't know what to do with himself not being able to leave the house today. I think he assumes we are always going to be busy and on the go... but I like to stay home every now and then, so today that's just what we did. Tomorrow is friends and family day at church with a potluck after and games for the family. Tomorrow evening I have a family photo shoot to do.... and then another busy week will start next monday. the funny thing is... last week was really busy and packed full of activities as the kids' birth father was in town. I thought this week was going to be chill....

I laugh at myself sometimes.

anyway... here are pics of the cattle farm, and monster truck show

Peach Tree Farm

Mindi and I took the kids to a peach tree farm this morning. I can't get enough of these peaches!! They are so yummy and juicy. It wasn't a "pick your own"... but it was still cute, and I ended up buying a 6lb. box of peaches... and a jar of strawberry rhubarb jam. When my family lived in Washington State, we had a rhubarb patch on the side of the house and my mom would make strawberry rhubarb cobbler, but I haven't eaten rhubarb in YEARS. I was pretty excited to see that jar of jam today and ate some on buttered toast tonight.... aw... bliss. it was SO yummy!!

anyway....

here's some pics from this morning at the farm...

Missouri State Fair 2008

The Missouri State fair is in full swing!!

The kids and I and our favorite babysitter of all time, Alisha, all went on Thursday afternoon and had a blast. Thursday was opening day, so it was dollar days, which meant that admission was only $1 instead of the usual $8. Also, some food stands had food for only $1... so we got $1 corndogs and $1 sodas. Cheap outing!! The most expensive thing was riding the ferris wheel... which was $5/person. So it cost me $20 for all four of us to ride the ferris wheel!! OUCH!

But oh well... we had a good time. Thanks, Alisha... for going with us!!

some pictures...

Audrey was scared...

But Alisha is brave...

Levi: "Audrey's not a princess mom, she still poops in her pants!"

Levi to Audrey: "Audrey, if you drink poison, or eat your poop, or lick your hands too much.... you will die!!!!!!!!"
Audrey: "uh-huh"

we're watching the Olympics tonight.... what's everyone else doing??

Adam and Amanda

Last night, my baby cousin Amanda got hitched. Congratulations to Adam and Amanda!!! You guys pulled off an amazingly beautiful/fun wedding!!!

Some highlights of the wedding:
~ I don't have a picture of it, but under her gorgeous wedding gown, Amanda wore red converse sneakers laced up with white satin ribbon. It was like straight out of Father of the Bride... and SOOO Amanda!!
~ They did a really neat spin-off of the "unity candle". They had a big decorative hurricane vase on the center of a table. Amanda held a vase of red crystals, and Adam held a vase of black crystals (their wedding colors were red and black), and each poured their respective crystals into the hurricane vase at the same time, mixing the two colors of crystals together. And now, it will be something cool that they can proudly display in their home.
and speaking of home...
~ My cousin Joshua's yougest girl, Poppy, asked her mom, Amy "since Amanda found her prince, are they going to live in a castle now?" Amy told her that was a good question, and she should ask Amanda that. So, later I see Poppy go up to Amanda and I hear her ask, "are you going to live in a castle?" SOO cute! Amanda didn't miss a beat. She said, "well, a very small castle. Two bedrooms, one and a half bath." LOL. Amanda... I know that on the days when you feel like choking Adam, two bedrooms will feel like a tiny closet... but I'm also sure that since he IS your prince, that your home with Adam will always feel like your castle. (and may he always treat you like the queen of it!!!!!)
~ One of my favorite parts of the reception was watching my children dance together. They didn't know that I was watching... and snapping pics away.... as they were laughing and dancing together on the dance floor. Levi would spin Audrey, and she'd get the biggest smile on her face. They really tore that dance floor up!!! (and my heart sang watching the two of them together like that.)

~ The wedding cake was gorgeous! Someone spent a LOT of time and effort on that! (I'm just glad it wasn't me! LOL.)

~ However, Adam is apparantly too good for a grooms cake. Instead, since he is a lover of all things candy, he decided to have a candy table. This was a HORRIBLE idea!!! If anyone there had a child under the age of four, you could guarantee that they were hanging out at the table, eating themselves into a sugar coma. we didn't need to keep an eye on them all night. The candy table was an awesome babysitter! In all seriousness though.... I really do think that the candy table was an adorable idea! and SERIOUS creativity points with that one! I've never seen that done before. again, SOOO Adam and Amanda!!

They even had these cute little bags.

It was like walking into a candy store, where you could spoon candy into bags.... only it was all free (to my two year old, anyway!)

I'll end this with two more of my favorite pics from the evening...

Amanda dancing with Chandler (the flower girl, and daughter of my oldest cousin, Monica)

and this one is my all time favorite...

my uncle Kenny is walking Amanda down the aisle... Adam is watchig Amanda. Meawhile, Brody (ring bearer and son of my cousin Carrie) is watching Adam's reaction, and Adam's dad is watching Kenny. I just love it.

guys.... we love you both and hope for nothing but the best for your new life together!

CHEERS. =D
