What Do You Say?? (times two)

We were driving by a graveyard the other day and there was a canopy set up for a funeral/burial that had either just happened or was getting ready to happen. Levi says to me "Look mom! there's a tent! Someone's going to go camping out there."

What do you say??

What Do You Say??

This morning, Levi asked me how hair grows. I didn't know the answer. I told him God just made us that way and maybe one day we could ask Him those questions. Then he tells me that maybe it grows when you lay down in the bathtub and get your hair wet.

*rewind*

Recently I started cleaning the house of an older woman who has cancer and is going through chemotherapy. Her name is Becky.

*fast forward*

I asked Levi why he thought that was how hair grows and he told me that Becky said when she takes a shower her hair comes out.

What do I say to Levi?

Sick Tummy

I think one of these days I'm gonna have to try that old trick where I'll give Audrey this huge pile of all the candy she can imagine and let her eat as much as she wants.... then get sick. Maybe that will cure her ALWAYS begging for sweets twenty four hours a day.

Other suggestions?

A Tale of Pee Wee and Puking

Disclaimer: This post is not for weak stomachs!! Graphic content.

Tonight was Levi's first pee wee t-ball practice.

I'm so proud of my big boy!!

(up to bat. taken with my phone since stupid me left the camera at home)

While we were at the ball field, Audrey was being so good... playing in the dirt... getting filthy dirty, but being good.

As we started to leave she started getting really fussy and whiny as we were walking to the truck. I asked her what her problem was and she said that she needed to "frow up" So I told her to throw up in the grass... and she wouldn't. I figured she was bluffing.

Until we got to the truck.

As I was helping her in, she starts throwing up EVERYWHERE. It was getting all over her car seat and all over the truck. So I grabbed her out of the truck and she proceeded to keep vomiting outside... all over me! I told her to bend over to throw up so she bent over... and threw up all over her clothes. I mean, she couldn't stop. She was puking so violently that she was gasping for air and eventually started dry heaving after she'd finished barfing chunks on everything in sight.

Ok, that was gross....

... here's where the story gets funny.

So, a lot of you know that I have a horrible (uncontrollable and usually inopportune) gag reflex. Well, luckily, I had a towel in the back seat of my truck so I could start cleaning up the mess. But the sight of the liquid pink throw up, the chunks, and the smell... threw my gag reflex into action.

So there we were at the ball field. Our first time ever there around these people we'd just met for the first time who we're going to be on this ball team with... and I'm violently (and loudly) gagging uncontrollably as my daughter gets rid of the contents in her stomach.

We were a sight for sore eyes.

It's a good thing Levi was so cute in his sports gear and baseball glove!!

Brightening Up My Day

With spring here I'm seeing more and more beautiful plants and flowers blooming around town. It's awesome. What's not awesome has been our weather lately. Windy... rainy... more wind... more rain. Yuck. It's beautiful outside... but only if you're looking out through a window. To stay too long outdoors these days is still not enjoyable yet. So... I decided to bring some spring inside.

Want to see what I got myself today??

aren't they beautiful?

Want to know a secret??

(lean in close)

*whispers*

They're fake!

I went to Hobby Lobby today and bought this bunch of bright fake flowers, came home...

... and using floral tape, turned them into pens!

What's that you ask? Why, yes... I DID get my nails done. thanks for asking. but that's not the point.

Back to my pen/flowers...

John's mom threw away literally a whole box of pens... John saved the box of tossed pens and took it to his house... where I got to take as many as I wanted. So, I've had these pens sitting around, and today I finally decided what I wanted to do with them.

To make them, buy a bunch of fake flowers (the specific bunch I bought happens to be 50% off at Hobby Lobby this week). Also, buy a pack of floral stem wrapping tape. Using wire cutters, cut the flowers stems to the length you want. Wrap the floral tape around the pen and flower stem... and voila!

You'll also want to buy some glass stones/gems to put in the bottom of your pot for the pens to stand in.

They look so pretty, serve a function... and have already done wonders to brighten up my day today sitting inside my house!! (and... bonus: It's harder to lose pens around your house this way!!)

Go getcha some fake flowers and make a pot of pens! They would make an awesome Mother's Day gift!!

Not An Option

Well, yesterday marked another awesome sermon from our minister Eric.

When I woke up yesterday morning my throat still hurt and it was raining outside and I had several reasons to just stay in bed and not go to church. But I got us all up and ready and we went...

... and one thing Eric said really struck a chord with me. He said "going to church is not an option. It is a necessity." He then said "If you don't believe me, walk out these doors and see how stagnant you become."

It's so true! Shame on me for wanting to stay under the warm covers.

It's so easy to make excuses. It's so easy to find reasons to stay home. But it's in those times when I'm not going to church and I'm not going to my bible studies and I'm not immersing myself in the word, and I'm not surrounding myself with my Christian friends that I see myself become stagnant.

It becomes obvious that I'm not being the person that God has called me to be.

I don't want to be stagnant, Lord. I want to be on fire for you! I want to soar on wings like eagles!!

You are not an option for me Lord, you are a command.

I love you, God! Your faithful servant, Becky
